Preview: Huesca vs. Valencia - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's La Liga clash between Huesca and Valencia, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Pacheta's Huesca will host Valencia this Saturday at El Alcoraz knowing that anything less than three points could well spell the end of their La Liga journey.

For Huesca to retain their top-flight credentials, the task is straightforward enough: pick up the three points, maintain a better goal difference than Elche and hope their relegation rivals lose.

With two wins and four losses from their last six league outings, Huesca have taken their fans on an emotional rollercoaster over the last few weeks, flirting with the idea of a great escape.

Currently 17th in the standings with 33 points and marginally better goal difference than the teams around them, Huesca are in pole position to survive, but that could all change when the games get underway on Saturday afternoon.

Huesca have failed to win any of their three La Liga matches against Valencia, with their 6-2 loss to Los Che in May 2019 being their biggest top-flight defeat at El Alcoraz.

However, Huesca have won their last two home games in La Liga, the only time Pacheta's men have recorded back-to-back home wins in the top-flight.

Pacheta's survival hopes could hinge on star-striker Rafa Mir, who has scored 13 goals in 37 games for Huesca, overtaking Chimy Avila as the team's top scorer in the competition.

With two wins from their last three league games, Voro's interim management appears to be going a lot better than many would have expected.

Wins against Real Valladolid and Eibar have seen Los Che net seven goals, while Voro's men were undone by Sevilla who beat them 1-0 in Andalusia.

Currently 13th in the standings with 42 points, Valencia have ended the season strongly, despite starting it very weakly.

One of the reasons why Los Che have upped the ante in recent weeks has be been due to the impressive form of midfield maestro Carlos Soler, who has scored 11 goals in 31 top-flight games this season, including three in his last four matches.

Whoever takes the reins this summer at Mestalla will hope and pray that the 24-year-old plans on committing himself to his boyhood club.

Team News

The biggest absentees for Pacheta this weekend are Pablo Insua, who is out with an ACL injury and Denis Vavro, who injured his hamstring.

Other notable absentees include Eugeni Valderrama, Antonio Valera and Luisinho.

Valencia's squad are currently fully fit and firing on all cylinders, something that will bode well for their summer recuperation.

Voro is expected to persevere with his faith in his backline, once again sacrificing an attacking player to play three at the back.

Huesca possible starting lineup:
Fernandez; Silva, Pulido, Siovas; Maffeo, Galan, Rico, Ferreiro, Seoane; Sandro, Mir

Valencia possible starting lineup:
Cillessen; Correia, Gabriel, Guillamon, Diakhaby, Gaya; Lee, Wass, Soler, Guedes; Gomez

We say: Huesca 1-0 Valencia

Huesca come into this game on the back of a couple of good home wins and, with desperation, hope and the plight of survival on their side, we think Pacheta's men will give Valencia a run for their money and pick up the three points.
