Getafe, Elche share goalless draw

Getafe and Elche share the point after neither side could break the deadlock in their La Liga clash.

Getafe and Elche have shared the points in their La Liga match after playing to a goalless draw at Coliseum Alfonzo Perez this evening.

Elche had a chance to open the scoring just a couple of minutes after kickoff when Victor Rodriguez tried to fire in from a Cristian Herrera cross, but the shot was saved.

The visitors continued to create the majority of the goal-scoring opportunities early on, but Enzo Roco and Rodriguez were both denied by Vicente Guaita.

Angel Lafita had the first real chance for the hosts, but his 35-yard rocket drifted just wide of the target.

Sergio Escudero and Pablo Sarabia both had chances before the break as Getafe started to see more of the ball, but they were unable to force a lead before half time.

Lafita almost opened the scoring just after the restart when Sarabia crossed the ball in towards the striker, leaving him with a header from close range, but it was punched clear by the keeper.

Both sides pressed late on as they tried to snatch a win, with Baba and Sammir missing the target for Getafe, while Faycal Fajr tried to drill the ball in from the edge of the box.

The result leaves Elche a point clear of the relegation zone, while Getafe climb up to ninth.
