Scottish Premiership roundup: Aberdeen top after Celtic win

Sports Mole rounds up all of Saturday's action from the Scottish Premiership, as Aberdeen beat Celtic to go top of the table.

Aberdeen are top of the Scottish Premiership following a 2-1 win against Celtic in Saturday's early kickoff.

Leigh Griffiths put Celtic in front with a penalty ahead of half time before Adam Rooney equalised from the spot shortly before the 60th minute.

Jonny Hayes saw red for Aberdeen with 20 minutes to go, but it was defender Paul Quinn who popped up four minutes from time to score and send the Dons top.

St Johnstone cruised to a 4-1 home win against Hamilton for their second victory of the season, with the hosts going ahead in the 22nd minute thanks to a Liam Craig finish.

Steven MacLean slotted away a penalty three minutes later, secured his second of the game shortly before the break, and completed his hat-trick 10 minutes into the second half to complete a comfortable win for the Saints. Lucas Tagliapietra pulled a goal back for Hamilton, but it was little more than a consolation.

Elsewhere, Kilmarnock left it late to beat Dundee United 2-1 away at Tannadice Park. Kallum Higginbotham put the visitors ahead one minute before the break with a penalty before Billy McKay equalised from the spot in the 66th minute, but a Kevin McHattie finish two minutes from the whistle sealed victory for the visitors.

Ross County picked up an away win at Motherwell thanks to a first-half strike from Michael Gardyne, sending the Staggies up to fourth in the table.

Dundee FC picked up their third win of the season away to Partick Thistle, who remain without a win this season and are second bottom after Greg Stewart's finish for the visitors 13 minutes from time.

Results in full: Dundee United 1-2 Kilmarnock (0-1), Motherwell 0-1 Ross County (0-1), Partick Thistle 0-1 Dundee FC (0-0), St Johnstone 4-1 Hamilton (3-0)
