Josh Lillis delighted by Bury shutout

Rochdale goalkeeper Josh Lillis admits that he is 'pleased' to have registered a clean sheet in Saturday's derby meeting with Bury.

Josh Lillis has revealed his delight at helping Rochdale to a clean sheet away at Bury on the weekend.

The 28-year-old produced a number of key saves at Gigg Lane, including a double stop shortly before half time to keep the scoreline level.

After coming away from the derby clash with a well-earned point, Lillis was full of praise for his defensive teammates who helped keep the opposition at bay across the 90 minutes of action.

"Personally, it's always pleasing to keep a clean sheet and to make saves along the way - that's what you want to do as goalkeeper," he told the club's official website.

"You're called upon all the time in games so you've got to stay switched on, so overall it's pleasing to get a point. You want to keep a clean sheet after coming into the game off the back of conceding too many goals in our previous games.

"As a team we all really wanted to get that clean sheet. It's always nice to make saves but lads defended really well."

Rochdale, who are now 10th in League One, face Coventry City in their next outing on Tuesday night.
