Paris Saint-Germain go 22 points clear at top of Ligue 1

Paris Saint-Germain record a 2-0 win over Bastia to move 22 points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table.

French champions Paris Saint-Germain have moved 22 points clear at the top of Ligue 1 after a 2-0 win over Bastia in Paris.

The victory means that Laurent Blanc's side have now won 17 of their 20 league games this season, drawing the other three. As for Bastia, the defeat has left them 16th in the division and still just three points outside of the relegation zone.

The hosts took the lead in the most routine of fashions - Thiago Silva heading home a swinging corner from Angel Di Maria, who ended the night with two assists. Thiago Motta was on the line to make sure for PSG, but it went down as a Silva goal.

Blanc's team then had their second in the 39th minute when Maxwell volleyed another Di Maria cross into the bottom corner.

Bastia continued to struggle as the second half developed as PSG came close to a third through Serge Aurier, but the Ivorian could not convert after good work from both Di Maria and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Ibrahimovic and David Luiz came close to adding to the scoring late on, in addition to a Sebastien Squillaci header which hit his own crossbar, but two goals were enough to continue PSG's unbeaten season.
