A section of Manchester United supporters are planning to stage fresh protests against the Glazer family at their first two home matches of the 2023-24 Premier League campaign.

The Red Devils will begin their new season at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday evening, while they second fixture of the campaign at Old Trafford will be against Nottingham Forest on August 26.

The 1958, who are an underground group said to have been key in the protests in recent years, have announced plans for more anti-Glazer protests in the first two home games of the new season.

"United together in defiance. 18 years of ignorance, 18 years of silence. A resolution is needed," read a post on the 1958's official Twitter account.

Last November, the Glazers signalled that they were open to selling the 20-time English champions, and a takeover was initially expected to occur earlier this year.

However, the process has hit a number of roadblocks along the way, with the American family set to enter the 2023-24 campaign as the club's owners.

A recent report claimed that a full sale could occur by November, with Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani the favourite to complete a takeover.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe recently said that he was still in the race for Man United, but it is believed that the British businessman has fallen some distance behind Sheikh Jassim.

Amid the takeover situation, Man United have been active during this summer's transfer window, boosting their squad with the arrivals of Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund.

The 20-time English champions are expected to sign two more players before the end of the market, with Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat widely believed to be their leading target in midfield.

There is also set to be a centre-back addition, with Harry Maguire closing in on a switch to West Ham United.

Nice's Jean-Clair Todibo and Bayern Munich's Benjamin Pavard are both believed to be targets for Erik ten Hag's side, while Bayern Leverkusen's Edmond Tapsoba is also allegedly on their shortlist.
