Jose Mourinho reportedly fell out with defender Luke Shaw in the weeks leading to his Manchester United departure.

Luke Shaw had one final row with manager Jose Mourinho before Manchester United sacked the Portuguese, according to a report.

The two men had a number of spats during Mourinho's time at Old Trafford, which came to an end on Tuesday after 30 months at the helm.

Mourinho's final game in charge was last weekend's 3-1 loss to Liverpool, which Shaw was absent for with a minor back complaint.

The England international also missed United's defeat to Valencia four days prior, and he was not involved for the meeting with Fulham on December 8.

Shaw's reluctance to make himself available for the Red Devils during their busiest spell in the season irked Mourinho, with the Daily Mail reporting that the pair had not spoken for a couple of weeks before the 55-year-old's exit.

Mourinho publicly questioned the attitude of some of his players in the wake of the Anfield defeat, though he did not mention the full-back by name.

Shaw is expected to return to action for caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first match in charge as United travel to Cardiff City on Saturday.
