Preview: Carlisle United vs. Leyton Orient - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Tuesday's League Two clash between Carlisle United and Leyton Orient, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Leyton Orient will be looking to make it back-to-back wins in League Two when they make the trip to Carlisle United in Tuesday's rescheduled match.

The O's enter the contest at Brunton Park one point better off than their opponents with two games in hand.

Conor Wilkinson's strike on the hour mark earned Orient a 1-0 win against Newport County at the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday, lifting his side up to 14th place in the process.

It was a first win in four for Jobi McAnuff's men, having lost 4-0 at Exeter City before playing out back-to-back draws with Stevenage and Scunthorpe United.

Orient can move to within seven points of the playoffs with victory on Tuesday, although realistically it is more likely to be a mid-table finish for the Londoners.

Carlisle have a real shot of breaking into the top six, though, given that they are nine points off Newport with three games in hand to play.

Games in hand do not equate to points, of course, and manager Chris Beech will know that a big response is needed from his side on the back of Saturday's 3-1 loss at Stevenage.

Luke Norris and Arthur Read were on target in the second half at the Lamex Stadium to separate the sides, with Carlisle having played 72 minutes of the match with 10 men.

That was because of a red card shown to Rod McDonald for pulling down Elliott List when through on goal.

United's form has been poor since the start of February, having lost seven, drawn three and won only one of their 11 matches.

That solitary win did come last time out on home soil, though - 3-1 against Bradford City - and the Cumbrians will see this as a chance to put another victory on the board.

Team News

McDonald will serve a ban after his costly sending-off against Stevenage, meaning that Beech will be forced into at least one change for this game.

Aaron Hayden filled in for McDonald at the Lamex Stadium and seems the most likely option to partner Rhys Bennett at the back on Tuesday.

At the other end of the field, Offrande Zanzala has stepped up with three goals and an assist in his last four appearances and is expected to lead the line again.

As for Orient, they remain without long-term absentees Adam Thompson and Lee Angol for this trip north.

Hector Kyprianou was brought on for Ousseynou Cisse at half time against Newport and could return to the XI here.

Carlisle United possible starting lineup:
Norman; Tanner, Bennett, Hayden, Armer; Riley, Guy, Mellish; Dickenson, Zanzala, Toure

Leyton Orient possible starting lineup:
Vigouroux; Akinola, Turley, Happe, Widdowson; Clay, Kyprianou; Wilkinson, Kemp, McAnuff; Johnson

SM words green background

We say: Carlisle United 1-1 Leyton Orient

Just one point separates these sides heading into this rearranged contest at Brunton Park.

We expect that to show come the end of the 90 minutes in a result that will suit neither side, especially playoff-chasing Carlisle.
