West Ham United are unlikely to sign Flamengo striker Gabriel Barbosa this month, according to a report.

The 25-year-old striker, nicknamed "Gabigol", is believed to have told the Brazilian outfit that he would be interested in holding talks with the Hammers ahead of proposed move to the London Stadium.

According to Sky Sports News, an 18-month loan deal with a €30m (£25m) option to buy has been suggested by West Ham, however a final decision over the transfer will come down to head coach David Moyes, who is concerned about Gabigol's lack of Premier League experience.

The report adds that two other English top-flight clubs as well as Russian giants Zenit St Petersburg are expected to make permanent offers for the striker this month.

After unsuccessful spells with Inter Milan and Benfica, Gabigol is keen to test himself again in Europe and he believes a move to England would benefit his chances of becoming a first-team regular for Brazil at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Gabigol enjoyed a prolific spell in front of goal in 2021, netting 29 times in 43 appearances for Flamengo across all competitions.
