Mikel Arteta provides an injury update regarding Bukayo Saka following the Arsenal winger's injury scare during the match against Manchester United last weekend.

Mikel Arteta has provided an injury update regarding Bukayo Saka following the Arsenal winger's injury scare during the match against Manchester United last weekend.

Saka was a fitness doubt ahead of the game due to a gash on his left leg sustained during the previous weekend's 3-0 victory against Bournemouth.

During the second half at Old Trafford, the 22-year-old sustained a knock after a challenge with Sofyan Amrabat, which ended with him colliding with the advertising hoardings.

After receiving treatment on the sideline and returning to the pitch, Saka went down again moments later, prompting Arteta to substitute him for Gabriel Jesus with eight minutes left to play.

Arteta expects Saka to be fit for Everton clash

Despite Saka being unable to complete the full 90 against the Red Devils, Arteta appeared unconcerned about the injury to his star winger after the game.

When questioned about the 22-year-old's condition during his post-match press conference, the Arsenal manager responded, "Yeah, he should be fine."

The England international has been a standout performer for the Arteta this season, scoring 16 goals and providing nine assists in 35 league matches to date.

With just one game left to play before the end of the season, Arsenal will be relieved that Saka can feature this weekend against Everton, where a victory, along with other results going in their favour, could result in the Gunners winning the Premier League title.

Arsenal manage best-ever Premier League tally

Title rivals Manchester City are set to face Tottenham Hotspur in midweek before concluding their season at home against West Ham United. Two victories in these matches will be sufficient for the Citizens to clinch their fourth consecutive title.

Even if Arsenal fall short of winning the title this season, the 2023-24 campaign has undeniably been a success. In terms of statistics, it stands as the best season in the club's history.

In addition, the Gunners' triumph over Man United marked their 27th Premier League victory of the season thus far, which is a tally they have never previously achieved in a single league campaign.

In both the 2001-02 season, when they clinched the league and FA Cup double, and in the 2003-04 season, when the Invincibles went undefeated throughout the league campaign on their path to the title, Arsenal only secured 26 wins.
