Half-Time Report: Tongo Doumbia gives Toulouse lead over Monaco

Tongo Doumbia's 22nd-minute goal gives Toulouse a surprise lead against Monaco in Ligue 1.

Tongo Doumbia has put Toulouse on course for their first victory in Ligue 1 this season against Monaco.

Le Tefece had early chances to take the lead, with Martin Braithwaite forcing a save out of Danijel Subasic before the Dane missed the target with another attempt soon afterwards.

Monaco had chances of their own to break the deadlock as Guido Carrillo squandered successive opportunites for Les Rogues et Blancs.

Instead, it was Toulouse who edged ahead midway through the half when Doumbia rifled home from the centre of the area after AS failed to clear a set piece.

Dominique Arribage's side came close to adding a second when Braithwaite headed wide of Subasic's goal after Jean-Daniel Akpa-Akpro's well-placed cross.

On the stroke of half time, Monaco were almost back on level terms when the recalled Stephan El Shaarawy forced a save out of Mauro Goicoechea.
