Quick Charlton Athletic turnaround sinks Leeds United

Two goals in five minutes from Tony Watt and Yoni Buyens give Charlton Athletic a 2-1 win over Leeds United at The Valley.

Second-half goals from Tony Watt and Yoni Buyens gave Charlton Athletic a 2-1 win over Leeds United at The Valley this afternoon.

Steve Morison struck his first goal of the season in the first period, but two goals in five minutes gave the Addicks the points to move them up to 10th in the Championship table.

An early chance came Rodolph Austin's way when he latched onto a loose ball, but the recalled midfielder's effort flew wide inside the first two minutes.

Igor Vetokele went close for the Addicks when he headed just wide under pressure from Charlie Taylor.

It was a fairly timid opening for both sides and Austin struck a 25-yard free kick at the wall before Luke Murphy volleyed over before the half-hour mark.

Murphy then found the target from range, but Charlton keeper Stephen Henderson was equal to the effort.

Leeds continued to press for the opener and Sharp was unfortunate to see his header go over the bar after a good cross from Sam Byram.

Sharp then missed from the penalty spot when he struck the post from 12 yards after Byram had been fouled inside the area.

However, Morison claimed his first goal of the season shortly after to give the visitors the lead at the break.

After the interval, Austin was set up with an effort on the edge of the box, but his strike was well saved by Henderson, moments after Stuart Taylor had denied Morgan Fox.

Watt levelled the scores with 15 minutes of normal time remaining when he rolled in a volley at the far post.

Vetokele was then brought down by Taylor inside the area to give the London side the chance to take the lead with a penalty.

Buyens made no mistake from 12 yards to turn the game around for the Addicks with his eighth consecutive penalty conversion.
