Jan-Ingwer Callsen-Bracker's first-half goal is enough for Augsburg to defeat Hamburg 1-0 at the Imtech Arena in the Bundesliga.

Augsburg have stunned Hamburg 1-0 away from home to enhance their chances of avoiding relegation from the Bundesliga this season.

The home side made a bright side to the game with Son Heung-Min and Jeffrey Bruma going close in the opening five minutes, but it was the visitors who took the lead at the Imtech Arena.

Tobias Werner floated in a free kick that Jan-Ingwer Callsen-Bracker headed home from the centre of the Hamburg penalty box.

Milan Badelj had a chance to draw his side level midway through the first half, but saw his attempt from close range saved by Augsburg goalkeeper Mohamed Amsif.

Amsif kept out attempts from Son and Artjoms Rudnevs later in the half, as Hamburg went into the break trailing the Bundesliga strugglers 1-0 in front of their own supporters.

Ragnar Klavan had a good chance to double Augsburg's lead four minutes into the second half but he headed Koo Ja-Cheol's cross wide.

Hamburg created chances through Son, Maximilian Beister and Marcell Jansen as the second half progressed, but all in vain.

The hosts also finished the match with 10 men after Beister was dismissed for a bad challenge on Daniel Baier in the 80th minute.
