Chelsea are reportedly offered the chance to sign Sergino Dest as part of a deal to offload Marcos Alonso to Barcelona.

Chelsea have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Barcelona right-back Sergino Dest as part of a deal for Marcos Alonso.

The latter's career at Stamford Bridge has taken a turn for the better under Thomas Tuchel, and he registered four goals and five assists in 28 Premier League games last season amid Ben Chilwell's lengthy layoff.

Alonso will soon enter the final 12 months of his Stamford Bridge contract, though, and Barcelona are pushing hard to sign the 31-year-old in the summer window.

The left-back has also announced his desire to return to his homeland despite being content at Chelsea, telling OndaCero: "On paper I have one more year of contract and that is what there is until today.

"I've already said other times that I would like to [return to Spain] but it doesn't depend entirely on me. There are two games left here [with Spain] and then it's time to rest.

"I've played 50 games, we've been world champions, we've had bad luck in the cup finals. I can't complain about anything at Chelsea but the desire to play in Spain is there. It doesn't depend entirely on me and I'm happy at Chelsea, I'm sincere."

According to 90Min, Chelsea are willing to let Alonso depart for Camp Nou and could receive 21-year-old USA international Dest in the exchange.

The former Ajax man registered three assists in 31 appearances for Xavi's side in all tournaments during the 2021-22 season but only started 17 La Liga matches amid injury problems and competition from Dani Alves.

The report adds that Dest's versatility would also appeal to the Blues given his stints on the left-hand side of defence, but Emerson Palmeiri will likely be given the chance to revive his Chelsea career this summer.

Dest is under contract at Barcelona until the summer of 2025 and has three goals and four assists to boast in 71 games for the Blaugrana, as well as winning one Copa del Rey since 2020.

Meanwhile, Alonso has amassed 29 goals and 23 assists in 212 games for Chelsea over a six-year spell and has won the Champions League, the Premier League, the Europa League, the Club World Cup, an FA Cup and a UEFA Super Cup with the Blues.

Chelsea's defensive ranks could be thinned further if Cesar Azpilicueta also completes an anticipated move to Catalonia, with the Spaniard also out of contract at Stamford Bridge in 2023.

Azpilicueta has allegedly already agreed personal terms with Xavi's side, and new owner Todd Boehly will allow Tuchel to make the final call on the 32-year-old's future.

Meanwhile, Andreas Christensen will officially leave Chelsea on a free transfer when his contract expires later this month, and the Denmark international is also set for a switch to Barcelona.

Antonio Rudiger has made the move to La Liga after his exit from Stamford Bridge earlier this summer, but the German instead chose to sign for Real Madrid.
