Half-Time Report: Saul header draws Atletico Madrid level at break

Saul scores late in the first half as Atletico Madrid head into half time drawing 1-1 with Athletic Bilbao at the Vicente Calderon.

Atletico Madrid have scored late in the first half to go in 1-1 at the break at home to Athletic Bilbao.

Aritz Aduriz almost gave the visitors the lead after he flicked on a deep cross but the effort was straight at Jan Oblak.

Luciano Vietto thought he had put the hosts ahead after his header found the back of the net, but the Argentine's finish was ruled out for offside.

Atletico had Oblak to thank again after Aduriz was allowed in behind their defence, but the goalkeeper tipped the Spaniard's lobbed effort over the bar.

It was not long before Bilbao took the lead as a corner was flicked on to Aymeric Laporte at the back post and the Frenchman prodded the ball home from close range.

However, the lead would not last as in added time, Saul headed home a late corner to level the scores as both teams head in for half time.
