Carlo Ancelotti will reportedly give Gareth Bale a second chance at Real Madrid, with a return to Tottenham Hotspur now considered unlikely.

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly set to give Gareth Bale a second chance, with a return to Tottenham Hotspur now considered unlikely.

The Welshman spent last season on loan at Spurs after falling out of favour under former Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane.

Ancelotti, who was reappointed as Zidane's successor in June, was the manager who signed Bale from Tottenham in 2013 for a then world-record fee of around £85m, and according to AS, the Italian is willing to hand the winger a lifeline.

The report also states, however, that the 32-year-old – who has one year remaining on his contract – is considering a potential move to MLS, before representing Wales at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, with plans to then retire from football that summer.

There are concerns regarding Bale's injury record, though Ancelotti is hopeful that the Welshman can reproduce his best form for Real next season, joining the likes of Karim Benzema and Eden Hazard in attack.

Before temporarily joining Spurs last summer, Bale made 251 appearances across all competitions for Real Madrid, scoring 105 goals and providing 68 assists.
