The Tottenham Hotspur hierarchy will reportedly make a decision on Antonio Conte's future in the next 48 hours.

Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly make a decision about Antonio Conte's future within the next 48 hours.

The future of the Spurs boss has been headline news since the Lilywhites gave up a 3-1 lead to draw 3-3 with relegation-threatened Southampton on Saturday.

In his post-match press conference, Conte launched an astonishing attack on the Tottenham squad, claiming that he saw "selfish players" on the pitch.

"I think it's better to go into the problem, we are not a team," Conte said: "We are 11 players that go into the pitch. I see selfish players, players that don't want to help each other and don't put their heart [into it]. This season compared to last, now we are worse in this aspect. When you are not a team you cannot improve."

Conte went on to add: "They don't play for something important, yeah. They don't want to play under pressure, they don't want to play under stress. It is easy in this way. Tottenham's story is this, 20 years there is the owner and they never won something but why? The fault is only for the club, or for every manager that stay here.

"I have seen the managers that Tottenham had on the bench. You risk to disrupt the figure of the manager and to protect the other situation in every moment. Until now I try to hide the situation but now, no, because I repeat I don't want to see what I have seen today.

"Everyone has to take responsibility. Not only the club, the manager and the staff. The players have to be involved in this situation because it is time to change this situation if Tottenham want to change. They can change the manager, a lot of managers, but the situation cannot change. Believe me."

Conte has informed the Tottenham hierarchy that his comments were directed towards his players rather than the club's board.

Following Conte's explosive press conference, some members of the Tottenham squad have indicated that they want the 53-year-old to be relieved of his duties.

According to Sky Sports News, a decision over the Italian's future will be made by the club over the next 48 hours.

There is a belief that it will be difficult for the former Inter Milan boss to see out the rest of his contract, which expires in the summer.

In a separate report, The Telegraph claims that Tottenham are expected to sack Conte by the end of the week.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has reportedly used the last couple of days to decide on Conte's future, and he will come to a final judgement in the near future.

If Conte is sacked then former Tottenham player and current first-team coach Ryan Mason could be placed in temporary charge until the end of the season.

Alternatively, Spurs could try to convince an out-of-work manager such as Luis Enrique, Mauricio Pochettino or Thomas Tuchel to take over the reins with immediate effect.

Tottenham occupy fourth position in the Premier League table, but they are only two points clear of fifth-placed Newcastle United, who have two games in hand.
