Paris Saint-Germain reportedly prepare a new bid for Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar, who is valued at €70m (£58.9m) by the Nerazzurri.

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly set to return with a new bid for Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar.

Les Parisiens were thought to be strongly interested in signing the 27-year-old at the start of the window before taking a step back over the past couple of weeks.

PSG are believed to have offered close to €60m (£50.5m) to Inter for Skriniar's services last month, but Simone Inzaghi's side swiftly rebuffed the Ligue 1 champions' approach.

Skriniar's contract with the Nerazzurri is due to expire at the end of the season, though, so they are at risk of losing him on a free transfer in the summer of 2023.

Nevertheless, Inter are still holding out for a high fee for the Slovakia international, who was also linked with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea earlier this summer.

Inzaghi's side are supposedly after as much as €70m (£58.9m) to sanction Skriniar's exit, but Gazzetta dello Sport claims that PSG are prepared to up their offer to get closer to their demands.

The report adds that Inter are braced for a fresh approach from Christophe Galtier's side, while Chelsea no longer hold an interest in signing Skriniar.

Should the Nerazzurri allow Skriniar to depart this summer, either Borussia Dortmund's Manuel Akanji or Lazio's Francesco Acerbi could arrive at San Siro to replace him.

Skriniar immediately established himself as one of the top players in his position in Serie A after joining from Sampdoria in 2017 and has registered 11 goals and four assists in 215 outings for Inter in all tournaments.

The centre-back found the back of the net three times in 35 Serie A appearances last term and would compete with the likes of Sergio Ramos, Marquinhos and Presnel Kimpembe at the Parc des Princes.

PSG have already signed Nordi Mukiele to provide cover for Achraf Hakimi at right-wing back, and the Frenchman can also fill in at the heart of defence if required.

Vitinha, Renato Sanches and Hugo Ekitike have also arrived in a busy summer for PSG under Galtier and football advisor Luis Campos, who is still searching for more reinforcements.

The capital club are believed to be closing in on a deal to sign Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz and have been credited with an interest in Red Bull Salzburg's Benjamin Sesko, but the teenager is now expected to join RB Leipzig in 2023.

Skriniar's signing could pave the way for Abdou Diallo and Thilo Kehrer to leave the club in the coming weeks, with both players thought to be on the radar of West Ham United.

PSG kicked off their Ligue 1 title defence with a 5-0 win over Clermont at the weekend and now prepare to meet Montpellier HSC at the Parc des Princes on Saturday night.
