Manchester United 'cool interest in Jadon Sancho'

Manchester United could reportedly cool their interest in Jadon Sancho due to the progress of Shola Shoretire in the club's academy.

United conducted a summer-long pursuit of Sancho which ultimately came to nothing as they refused to meet Borussia Dortmund's asking price and self-imposed deadline for a deal to be done.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still keen on the 20-year-old England international and the Red Devils are expected to return with another approach next summer, albeit with more competition for his signature from the likes of Liverpool.

However, The Mirror reports that members of the club's hierarchy are increasingly convinced that they could unearth 'the next Sancho' from their own academy.

Club chiefs have reportedly earmarked 16-year-old Shoretire as a future star and have offered the youngster a pre-contract to turn professional when he is 17.

Shoretire became the UEFA Youth League's youngest-ever player at the age of 14 years and 314 days last year and has been tipped for a bright future by his youth coaches.

United also brought in 18-year-old Facundo Pellistri during the summer window to add depth to the right-wing position.
