Liverpool 'end Ibrahima Konate pursuit'

Liverpool reportedly inform RB Leipzig that they will not be pursuing a deal for defender Ibrahima Konate, who has also been linked with Manchester United.

Liverpool have reportedly informed RB Leipzig that they will not be pursuing a deal for centre-back Ibrahima Konate this summer.

With Jurgen Klopp seeking to bolster his defence amid a spate of injuries, Konate was understood to have been on Liverpool's radar ahead of the reopening of the transfer window.

Julian Nagelsmann will already be waving goodbye to Dayot Upamecano after Bayern Munich agreed a deal for the French defender, and both Liverpool and Manchester United have been credited with an interest in his compatriot Konate.

However, Bild reports that Leipzig contacted Liverpool in order to gauge their interest in Konate, but the Reds informed the Bundesliga side that they are not intending to make a move for the 21-year-old.

Konate himself addressed the rumours while on international duty with the France Under-21s side, claiming that he is "tired" of the intense speculation surrounding his future.

The former Sochaux defender has only made 10 Bundesliga appearances during a challenging campaign with injuries, and his current deal with Leipzig is due to expire in the summer of 2023.
