Manchester United are reportedly increasingly optimistic about their chances of appointing Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager this summer.

Manchester United are reportedly growing more confident about their chances of welcoming Mauricio Pochettino to the club as their new manager.

Ralf Rangnick has made a positive impression during his time in interim charge, and there have been suggestions that the German could stay on beyond the end of the season.

However, Rangnick is still expected to move into his two-year consultancy role from the summer, leaving the powers-that-be at Man United to search for a permanent Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replacement.

Paris Saint-Germain boss Pochettino has been heavily linked with the role, and The Mirror claims that Man United are increasingly optimistic of hiring the former Tottenham Hotspur boss.

The report adds that Pochettino has not enjoyed his time in charge of PSG - in spite of their standing at the top of the Ligue 1 table - with their Coupe de France crown slipping out of their grasp against Nice on Monday.

PSG were supposedly prepared to let Pochettino leave in January, but the Argentine ultimately stayed put after Zinedine Zidane was rumoured to have turned down the job.

Pochettino has won 45 of his 66 games in charge of PSG, who prepare for battle against Real Madrid in the last-16 of the Champions League later this month.
