Harry Maguire to remain as Manchester United captain?

Manchester United reportedly have no immediate plans to strip Harry Maguire of the club captaincy after he was found guilty of multiple charges by a Greece court.

Harry Maguire is reportedly in line to remain as Manchester United captain for the foreseeable future.

After being arrested in Mykonos last week, Maguire was one of three people to be found guilty of multiple charges by a Greece court on Tuesday evening, which included assaulting a police officer and attempted bribery.

However, the 27-year-old has maintained his innocence since the incident on Thursday, circumstances which seemingly began when his sister was allegedly injected with a suspected 'rape drug'.

At a time when Maguire plans to appeal a 21-month suspended prison sentence, Manchester Evening News suggests that he continues to receive full backing from United.

The report says that neither club officials or manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer currently have plans to strip the centre-back of the captaincy.

That stance comes less than 24 hours after England boss Gareth Southgate withdrew the player from his England squad for the games with Iceland and Denmark.
