How Manchester United could line up against Watford

Ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash between Manchester United and Watford, Sports Mole looks at how the Red Devils could line up against the Hornets.

Manchester United's victory over Burnley at Turf Moor earlier this month helped to lift some of the gloom that had been descending on the club, and Jose Mourinho will be hopeful that the international break came at the perfect time for the rest of that to have evaporated.

Successive defeats at the hands of Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur have left the Red Devils already six points off the early leaders, one of whom they will face on Saturday.

Watford are the most surprising member of the perfect trio after four games of the season, joining Liverpool and Chelsea with a 100% record in the Premier League so far.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how United could line up at Vicarage Road.

Out: Marcus Rashford (suspended), Phil Jones (hamstring)
Doubtful: Diogo Dalot (fitness), Marouane Fellaini (back), Luke Shaw (concussion), Marcos Rojo (knock), Sergio Romero (fitness)

There has been no shortage of talking points surrounding Manchester United already this season, but one of the major ones has been the defence, with Mourinho openly admitting that he does not yet know his best back four.

United have not fielded the same defensive line in any game so far this season, and that trend is likely to continue this weekend with Shaw sidelined with concussion following his England exploits.

Ashley Young could revert to the left-back role he carried out for much of last season as a result, but summer signing Dalot is another option as he continues to edge towards his debut.

Mourinho could also hand a recall to Eric Bailly in place of Victor Lindelof, over whom questions still remain, while a minor back injury for Fellaini could see Fred return to the side after being dropped against Burnley.

Rashford will begin his three-match ban for headbutting Phil Bardsley during that win over Burnley, so Alexis Sanchez and Jesse Lingard are expected to retain their places with Anthony Martial still out of favour.
