Lionel Messi has spoken openly about last summer's controversial transfer saga at Barcelona.

The Argentine has taken part in an hour-long interview which will be televised in Spain on December 27, but parts of the interview has already been revealed.

The Daily Mail reports that Messi is apparently honest about his turmoil at the Nou Camp over recent months, although the interview gives a sense of optimism that the club legend would be committed to winning all he can at Barcelona this campaign.

"The truth is that today I'm fine. It's true that I had a very bad time in the summer," Messi said.

'It came from before. What happened before the summer, because of how the season ended, the burofax and all that... But today I'm fine and I feel like fighting seriously for everything that lies ahead, [I am] excited.

"I know that the club is going through a difficult time, at club level and team, and everything that surrounds Barcelona becomes difficult but I'm looking forward to it."

Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have been the two main clubs fighting for Messi's signature, although the 33-year-old could be persuaded to join the French champions if he wishes to link up once again with former teammate Neymar, who has already outlined his desire to reunite with the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.
