Barcelona are reportedly willing to accept a €50m (£42.9m) fee for Philippe Coutinho as Liverpool wait to receive the rest of the money from his 2018 transfer.

Barcelona are reportedly hoping to ship out Philippe Coutinho in order to fork out the money they still owe Liverpool for his 2018 transfer.

The Brazil international completed a move to Camp Nou in January 2018 for a staggering €160m (£137m), but his three-year stint in Catalonia has not gone the way that he would have hoped.

Ronald Koeman is understood to view Coutinho as an important member of his squad, but he was strongly linked with a move back to the Premier League during the most recent summer window - which went nowhere - but his future at Barcelona remains up in the air.

According to Sport, with Liverpool still waiting to receive more than €50m (£42.9m) in instalments for his transfer, Barca are keen to sell the winger this summer for approximately that price in order to raise the necessary funds.

The Blaugrana agreed significant pay cuts with their players back in November, but Coutinho is reported to be pocketing €13m (£11.2m) a year at Camp Nou - the third highest wage behind Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann - so the sale of Coutinho would help negate the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

The 28-year-old scored two goals and provided two assists in 12 La Liga appearances this term before suffering a serious knee injury, one which is expected to keep him out for at least another month.
