Mohamed Salah and Alexis Mac Allister are dropped for Liverpool's clash with Fulham, as Jurgen Klopp makes five changes to his starting lineup.

Mohamed Salah and Alexis Mac Allister have both been dropped for Liverpool's Premier League clash with Fulham at Craven Cottage.

The Reds return to top-flight action on the back of being knocked out of the Europa League by Atalanta BC in the quarter-finals, but they will rise above Manchester City and move level on points with Arsenal in the table with victory in West London.

Head coach Jurgen Klopp has made five changes from the side that posted an inconsequential 1-0 second-leg win on Thursday night, and the headline news is no Salah in the visitors' starting lineup.

The Egypt international was taken off midway through the second half of the Bergamo clash, having scored a first-half penalty before then wasting a golden chance to put Liverpool two goals to the good.

Klopp defended Salah's miss in his post-game press conference, but despite taking him off just before the hour mark, the German has seen fit to give the 31-year-old a rest from the first whistle today.

Liverpool field new-look midfield at Craven Cottage

In addition, centre-back Ibrahima Konate has dropped out of the Liverpool XI, as have Dominik Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones and Mac Allister, meaning that it is a new-look midfield for the Reds at Craven Cottage.

Wataru Endo, Harvey Elliott and Ryan Gravenberch will link arms in the centre, while Diogo Jota has been given the nod over Darwin Nunez to join Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo in the final third.

Jarell Quansah rejoins Virgil van Dijk at the back, where Trent Alexander-Arnold is given the green light to line up at right-back, despite Klopp admitting that the Englishman was running on empty towards the end of Thursday's match.

Meanwhile, Fulham boss Marco Silva has made just the one alteration to the squad that eased to a 2-0 win over London rivals West Ham United last weekend, as Bobby Decordova-Reid replaces the absent Willian.

The former Arsenal and Chelsea man is absent from the hosts' squad due to a groin strain, although his injury is not believed to be serious.

Fulham: Leno; Castagne, Adarabioyo, Bassey, Robinson; Palhinha, Lukic; Iwobi, Pereira, Decordova-Reid; Muniz
Subs: Rodak, Tete, Ream, Reed, Cairney, Wilson, Traore, Jimenez, Broja

Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Quansah, Van Dijk, Robertson; Elliott, Endo, Gravenberch; Jota, Gakpo, Diaz
Subs: Kelleher, Gomez, Konate, Szoboszlai, Nunez, Mac Allister, Salah, Jones, Tsimikas
