Liverpool owner John W Henry reportedly rejects a £3bn offer from a Middle Eastern party to sell the club.

Liverpool's owners Fenway Sports Group have rejected a £3bn bid from an unnamed party to sell the club, according to a report.

The American company - led by principal Reds owner John W Henry - have been at the helm on Merseyside since purchasing the club for £300m back in 2010.

However, the Anfield faithful are calling for the 71-year-old to leave after the Reds signed up for the European Super League, before withdrawing 48 hours afterwards in the wake of criticism from fans, players, managers and footballing authorities.

According to The Mirror, a potential buyer from the Middle East offered an eye-watering £3bn to purchase the club from FSG, but Liverpool's owners swiftly rejected the offer.

The report adds that the bid was tabled before Henry's involvement in the Super League became known, but Henry is in no position to sell the club despite growing pressure from supporters.

Henry has issued an apology for signing the Premier League champions up for the ESL, and manager Jurgen Klopp has insisted that the club's owners are not "bad people".
