Leicester City eye up a move for Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall in the upcoming transfer window, according to a report.

Leicester City have eyed up a move for Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall in the upcoming transfer window, according to a report.

The 25-year-old was part of the Forest side that won 2-1 at Sheffield United in the first leg of their Championship playoff semi-final tie on Saturday, with the Reds battling for a long-awaited return to the Premier League.

However, should Steve Cooper's side fail to earn promotion this season, Worrall could be one of a number of players targeted by top-flight clubs according to The Sun.

The report suggests that the defender is likely to stay at the City Ground if Forest achieve their goal though, as well as the likes of the in-demand Brennan Johnson.

Following a disappointing Premier League campaign, which has resulted in an absence of European football at the King Power Stadium next season for the first time in three years, Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers is planning an overhaul of his squad.

Should Worrall make the move to Forest's East Midlands rivals, he would compete with the likes of Jonny Evans, Wesley Fofana and Caglar Soyuncu for a place in the Foxes starting lineup, although the latter's future remains to be seen as he enters the final year of his contract this summer.
