Kaiserslautern eye Miroslav Klose return

Kaiserslautern chairman Thomas Gries announces his intention to bring veteran striker Miroslav Klose back to the club following his release from Lazio.

Kaiserslautern chairman Thomas Gries has outlined his desire to bring Miroslav Klose back to the club following his exit from Lazio.

The 38-year-old left the Serie A outfit at the end of last season after his contract expired, and Gries is hopeful that a return to one of his earliest clubs will be enough to entice him to drop down to the German second tier.

Klose launched his career during a five-year stay at Kaiserslautern, scoring 52 goals in 147 games before moving to Werder Bremen and then Bayern Munich.

"It would be absolutely stupid of me if I didn't at least try. It would be like hitting the jackpot for Kaiserslautern. We have got to give it a try," Gries told SWR television.

Klose went on to become Germany's highest ever scorer with 71 goals in 137 appearances, a record 16 of which came at World Cups.
