Chelsea 'battling to keep Olivier Giroud amid Juventus interest'

Olivier Giroud reportedly remains on the radar of Juventus despite affirming that he wants to stay on at Chelsea for the rest of the season.

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud reportedly remains a transfer target for Serie A champions Juventus.

The 34-year-old has struck nine times in all competitions during the 2020-21 campaign, but he still finds himself in and out of Frank Lampard's underperforming team.

Giroud is free to negotiate with other clubs after entering the final six months of his Stamford Bridge contract, and he has been strongly linked with a move to Italy after Juve manager Andrea Pirlo confirmed that his club would be interested in a deal.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio and Tuttosport, Juventus are still hoping to prise the France international away from Chelsea, although he has affirmed that he wants to stay at the club for the remainder of the season.

AC Milan have also been credited with an interest in the Chelsea man, and the report claims that Juventus will look to move for Sassuolo's Gianluca Scamacca if their pursuit of Giroud does not bear fruit.

The former Arsenal man would supposedly be allowed to depart for a fee of €5m (£4.4m) before he becomes a free agent in the summer.
