Barcelona reportedly beat Chelsea to the signing of Paris Saint-Germain youngster Kays Ruiz-Atil, who previously spent six years in the Catalans' academy.

Chelsea are reportedly set to miss out on the signing of Paris Saint-Germain youngster Kays Ruiz-Atil.

The 19-year-old was handed a few opportunities in Ligue 1 under now-Blues boss Thomas Tuchel, but he did not play a single minute of football for PSG after Mauricio Pochettino took control of the reins.

Ruiz-Atil is therefore set to leave PSG when his deal expires in a few days' time, and Chelsea were tipped to bring Ruiz-Atil to Stamford Bridge earlier this year in order for the teenager to continue his development under Tuchel.

However, Calciomercato journalist Matteo Moretto claims that Barcelona are closing in on a deal for Ruiz-Atil, who spent six years with the Catalans' La Masia academy between 2009 and 2015.

The teenager previously spent time with Gerland and Lyon's youth teams before joining Barcelona's academy setup, and he penned a professional deal with PSG just five days after turning 16 in 2018.

Ruiz-Atil leaves PSG after making seven Ligue 1 appearances in the 2020-21 campaign, including one start in their opening-day defeat to Lens.
