The US merchant bank Raine Group extend the deadline for bids to purchase Chelsea FC until Friday, allowing more time for interested parties.

The deadline for bids to buy Chelsea has officially been extended.

The club is currently up for sale, with concerns over the future for the defending European champions after the UK government placed Roman Abramovich under sanctions.

So far, the Blues have received several offers, and it is understood that the deal will be allowed to go through, as long as the 55-year-old does not receive any of the money.

It has now been confirmed that US merchant bank Raine Group has extended the deadline for bids until Friday, allowing more to come through during this week before an official decision is made.

Property developer Nick Candy is one person that is interested, having grown up as a Chelsea fan, he has also offered to help the club financially if that is needed so they can finish the season.

Todd Boehly and Hansjorg Wyss have also put in a bid for the football club, while The Ricketts Family, who own the Chicago Cubs, and New York Jets owner Woody Johnson are also reportedly in the running.
