Lionel Messi 'ready to leave Barcelona in 2021'

Lionel Messi could leave Barcelona when his existing deal expires at the end of next season, according to a report.

Barcelona attacker Lionel Messi is reportedly ready to leave the Spanish champions when his existing deal expires at the end of the 2020-21 campaign.

The 33-year-old has again been in terrific form at club level this season, scoring 27 times and contributing 22 assists in 37 appearances in all competitions.

Messi's current deal at Camp Nou is due to expire next summer, but a recent report claimed that the two parties were in advanced negotiations over an extension.

The Argentina international has spent the entirety of his professional career at Barca, scoring 630 times in 724 appearances in all competitions.

However, according to Cadena Ser, Messi is ready to leave the club at the end of next season, having become frustrated by the lack of quality in the Barca squad.

The report also claims that the South American is angry over reports that suggested he was to blame for the sacking of Ernesto Valverde in January.

Messi, who is also believed to have a strained relationship with French attacker Antoine Griezmann, has previously been linked with a reunion with former boss Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
