Aston Villa full-back Jordan Amavi is ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Aston Villa have revealed that defender Jordan Amavi will miss the remainder of the season due to an injury sustained on international duty.

The 21-year-old ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during France Under-21s' 1-0 win over their Northern Ireland counterparts on Thursday evening.

Despite Les Bleus' medical team attempting to play down the injury, Amavi has now undergone a scan on his leg with the initial worst fears being realised.

Villa confirmed the news on their official website, adding that all at the club wish the full-back a speedy recovery on his long road to recovery.

Amavi has featured 12 times for the Villans since joining from Nice in the summer, helping to keep a clean sheet against Premier League leaders Manchester City in what will ultimately be his final appearance of the campaign.
