Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino reportedly rejects the opportunity to become the new boss of Ligue 1 outfit Monaco.

Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly turned down the chance to become the next manager of Monaco.

Having been out of work since his dismissal from Tottenham Hotspur in November, Pochettino is known to be ready for his next challenge in the dugout.

With just weeks remaining until the beginning of the new season, the Argentine is naturally being linked with a number of high-profile roles around Europe.

However, according to The Athletic, the 48-year-old rejected the advances of Monaco officials before they eventually appointed Nico Kovac.

After ending the last campaign in ninth position, Monaco face another season of rebuilding, which may involve focus being placed on the development of their younger players at a time when sales will likely have to be made during the next transfer window.

The report adds that Pochettino is prepared to bide his time before making a decision on any concrete offers.
