Barcelona 'looking to offload quartet in January'

Barcelona reportedly plan to offload out-of-favour quartet Samuel Umtiti, Riqui Puig, Carles Alena and Junior Firpo in the January transfer window.

Barcelona are reportedly looking to ship out Samuel Umtiti, Riqui Puig, Carles Alena and Junior Firpo in the January transfer window.

With Ronald Koeman's men struggling for consistency in La Liga so far, the Blaugrana have been linked with a number of names to bolster their squad for the second half of the season.

Memphis Depay, Georginio Wijnaldum and Eric Garcia have all been tipped to move to Catalonia, but Barcelona are still reeling from the financial effects of the coronavirus pandemic and would likely struggle to fund deals for the trio in January.

According to Sport, the club have now identified four players who could be moved on next month, with Umtiti, Puig, Alena and Firpo all out of favour at Camp Nou.

Arsenal and Manchester City have both been credited with an interest in Puig and Umtiti has been tipped to head out on loan in the January window, while Alena and Firpo are seldom used by Koeman.

Barcelona are currently fifth in the La Liga table - eight points adrift of leaders Atletico Madrid before Tuesday evening's clash with Eibar.
