Arsenal failed with a £34m offer for Real Madrid attacker Marco Asensio over the summer, according to a report.

Arsenal reportedly had a £34m offer for Real Madrid attacker Marco Asensio turned down over the summer.

The 25-year-old's future was the subject of much speculation over the recent transfer window, with a number of clubs thought to be interested in signing him.

Asensio has found it tough to show his best form for Los Blancos since suffering a serious knee injury ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.

The attacker's agent Horacio Gaggioli recently said that his client came close to leaving Real Madrid on loan over the summer, and according to Cadena SER, Arsenal also attempted to sign him on a permanent deal.

The report claims that the Gunners made a £34m offer for the Spain international, but Los Blancos signalled that they were not prepared to part with him.

Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have also been credited with an interest in Asensio, who scored three times in Real Madrid's 6-1 win over Mallorca in La Liga on Wednesday night.
