The BBC opens contestant applications for a "potential" second series of Survivor UK.

The BBC has started accepting contestant applications for a "potential" second series of Survivor UK.

The iconic reality show made its return to UK TV screens after an absence of 20 years last autumn, with Joel Dommett as host and the competition taking part in the Dominican Republic.

The series aired over 16 episodes on BBC One between October 28 and December 16, averaging around 3 million viewers - although the final audience may be higher when accounting for iPlayer and long-tail viewing figures.

The BBC has yet to confirm whether or not another series will be made, but production firm Banijay is now accepting applications online for what it describes as a "potential" new run.

Contestants are required to be available for a period of "up to eight weeks in 2024" to take part, while the closing date for applications is February 16, suggesting that the BBC may make a decision on whether to proceed in short order.
