Paul Mescal says that he is keen to reprise his acclaimed role of Connell Waldron on a second season of Normal People.

Paul Mescal has revealed that he is keen to film a second season of acclaimed drama Normal People.

The show became one of the biggest hits during the first coronavirus lockdown last spring and made stars of its two leads, Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones.

Last night Mescal won the prestigious Best Actor award at the BAFTA TV Awards for his role as brooding Irishman Connell Waldron, and speaking to press afterwards, he outlined his hopes to play the character again.

"I would love to do a season two," he said. "I would work with Daisy again in a heartbeat, and regardless of the work or anything I'm just [always] really excited to see her."

Despite the show's runaway success, however, Mescal added that there is currently "nothing at all in the pipeline" with regards to a second season.

The team behind the series are currently working on another Sally Rooney adaptation, Conversations with Friends, for release in 2022.
