ITV still planning for 'Love Island' summer series?

Love Island producers are reportedly still planning for this year's summer series to go ahead.

Love Island producers are reportedly ploughing ahead with plans to air a new series this summer despite the spread of the deadly coronavirus disease around the world.

The show is due to return in June, with filming taking place in Mallorca, but there are now serious doubts that it can go ahead as planned due to social distancing measures and Spain's decision to go into an enforced lockdown.

According to the Daily Mail, however, producers are still confident that the series can proceed but instead airing from July instead of June.

A source told the website: "The team are still committed to the series airing this summer. The show will go on.

"Production on Love Island have been told the upcoming series is still scheduled to take place but the show will launch a month later in July."

Love Island is by far ITV2's most popular series and last summer hit a new ratings high with an average of 5.6 million viewers over the course of its run.
