Russell T Davies to live tweet Rose episode of Doctor Who

Former Doctor Who executive producer Russell T Davies confirms a live Tweetalong for a screening of the iconic 'Rose' episode.

Former Doctor Who executive producer Russell T Davies has revealed that he will live tweet along a screening of the 'Rose' episode to mark its 15th anniversary this week.

With people isolating at home around the globe due to the coronavirus pandemic, mass watchalong events have been co-ordinated by fans of certain TV shows, including Doctor Who.

Yesterday Steven Moffat tweeted alongside a screening of the 'Day of the Doctor' special, revealing filming anecdotes and production insights, and now Davies is following suit.

Davies oversaw the revival of the show in 2005 which began with the episode 'Rose', starring Christopher Eccleston as The Doctor and Billie Piper as his assistant Rose Tyler.

"LIVE TWEET, this Thursday 26 March, 7pm UK time, "Rose," for its 15th anniversary," Davies wrote on Instagram. "Available on iPlayer and Netflix. Apparently, I'll have to join twitter for this. I blame you, @stevenwmoffat. For everything. Can we swear? Also, surprise extra material released on the day. Exciting! Join in!"

The BBC has made all 12 seasons of the rebooted version of the show available for free via iPlayer, while all four seasons of spinoff show Torchwood can also be streamed.
